HEAVY DUTY MECHANICAL

A heavy-duty mechanic (or equipment technician) inspects, repairs, and maintains large machinery like bulldozers, cranes, and tractors used in construction, mining, and agriculture. They diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and engine issues, perform preventative maintenance (cleaning, lubricating), and ensure safety compliance, often working in workshops or on field job sites
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Diagnostics & Repair: Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify faults and fix engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
-Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine servicing, such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting parts to optimize performance.
-Field Service: Travel to job sites to repair broken-down machinery on-site.
-Safety & Compliance: Adhere to safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and maintain a safe workspace.
-Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance, repairs, and parts used.
Qualifications:
– Education: A formal qualification as a heavy-duty mechanic, or completion of an apprenticeship program.
-Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and specialized equipment.
-Tools: Proficient in using hand and power tools for heavy repair.
-Licenses: Valid driver’s license is required; specialized licenses (e.g., CDL) may be required.
-Physical Aptitude: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and work in varied weather conditions
