Purchasing/Procurement Supervisor

A Purchasing/Procurement Supervisor oversees buying, manages staff, develops policies, and optimizes sourcing to get goods/services cost-effectively and efficiently, focusing on supplier negotiation, contract management, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance, balancing strategic goals with daily operational oversight to meet organizational needs. Key duties involve leading teams, implementing sourcing strategies, resolving supplier issues, and improving procurement processes for savings and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
-Strategy & Policy: Develop, implement, and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and strategies for cost savings.
-Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, negotiate with, and manage supplier relationships; build strong partnerships.
-Operations: Oversee the purchase order process, manage contracts, track inventory, and handle logistics.
-Team Leadership: Train, guide, and manage junior purchasing staff; monitor performance.
-Compliance: Ensure adherence to internal policies, regulations, and ethical standards (e.g., sustainability).
-Analysis & Reporting: Monitor market trends, analyze spend, report on procurement performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
-Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field.
-Experience: Proven experience in procurement/purchasing, with prior supervisory/leadership roles.
-Negotiation: Strong ability to negotiate favorable terms and pricing.
-Analytical: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
-Technical: Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
-Communication: Strong verbal and written communication, stakeholder management.
